Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood

Since 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has implemented programs of service impacting countless lives.

Service and sisterhood have been the cornerstone of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® since 1908. With the theme, Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood, the 2022-2026 administration seeks to build upon Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s rich legacy of service by galvanizing our sisterhood of more than 120,000 active members to lead on the front lines of change, education, and advocacy.

This administration has six initiatives. Strengthen Our Sisterhood will serve as the administration’s “Foundation Initiative” as we strengthen our bonds to support our service mission.

The remaining five initiatives will serve as the “Program Initiatives” which include:

These initiatives are designed to improve the lives of those we serve. We will work collaboratively to maximize our outreach on progressive endeavors and consistently produce leaders who will advance our credo of service.

Continuing the Legacy

  • 1954 Major fundraising project began — The Fashionetta
  • 1989 Scholarship Showcase — an annual event to salute and promote higher intellectual standards and recognize achievements in the area of Mathematics and Science began. Scholarships have been awarded since 1952.
  • The Adoption of Booker T. Washington Community Center
  • 1989 The First Teens Against Pregnancy group established by Delores Jones (Later renamed TAPS/VIP — Vision, Image, Power)
  • 1991 The establishment of the First Middle Georgia Area Jacket Bank by Ruby Dunn.

Our Service

 
Epsilon Omega Omega Chapter has served the Middle Georgia community through a wide variety of initiatives, and programs since its chartering. These signature programs include:

  • The awarding of over $100,000 in scholarships to Middle Georgia students in the last ten years
  • The Emerging Young Leaders program develops skills and talents of middle school girls with potential for becoming a leader within their local communities, as well as in other  venues by cultivating and encouraging high scholastic achievement through Leadership Development, Civic Engagement, Educational Enrichment, and Character Building
  • Teen Summer Camp program motivates students toward higher academic excellence and
  • Teens Keepin’ It Real program provides an avenue for open dialogue for and with today’s teens
  • The Middle Georgia Jacket Bank provides new and gently used jackets and coats to those in need
  • Community partnerships with many agencies to include the American Red Cross, DFCS, Loaves & Fishes, Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, Meals On Wheels, Mentors Project of Macon and Bibb County, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Ronald McDonald House, The Douglass Theatre, Salvation Army, local schools and colleges and other fraternal organizations.

The Pearl Community Center

  • On August 5, 2003, Epsilon Omega Omega Chapter closed on the purchase of a Teen
    Center/Sorority House. The first meeting in the Teen Center/Sorority House was held in
    March 2004. This acquisition allows the chapter to extend its outreach program and to
    respond to the needs of the surrounding community.
  • The Pearl Community Center, Incorporated is a 501c3 organization established in 2006
